An idealized portrait of the young Friedrich von Schiller. The poet’s likeness finely carved in relief of white marble and seen in profile from the right, signed at the truncated neck A. Lossow. fec.1853. The German sculptor Arnold Hermann Lossow (1805-1874 worked in Munich, then in 1827 travelled to Rome. Upon his return in 1834 he joined Ludwig Schwanthaler’s workshop.
