The clock is signed on the enamel dial by the famous Parisian bronzier ”Ledure Bronzier à Paris” and the clockmaker ”Hedon Hr" (horloger). Patinated and fully sculpted bronze figure of the young Apollo (or Eros), depicted as a nude holding a giltbronze butterfly in his hand as an Apollonian allegory of victorious love or in relation to the clock suggesting the fragile victory of love over time and death. A very fine mantel clock in authentic condition.
